Most Crackers Wither Storm Mod crashes have a small set of causes, and the crash report usually names the culprit. Here is how to read it and fix the usual suspects.
Find the crash report
- Crash reports:
crash-reportsfolder inside your game directory, one file per crash. - Latest log:
logs/latest.log, useful when the game closes without a report. - Forge error screens: loading errors often appear on screen before the title menu, listing the problem mod.
Search the report for "Caused by" and the first mention of a mod name. That line is usually the real cause.
Common errors and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Mod missing from the Mods list | Source ZIP placed in mods, or vanilla profile launched | Use a compiled .jar and the Forge profile |
| Forge says the mod needs a different Minecraft version | Version mismatch | Use the build for your exact version |
| Missing dependency screen | A required library mod isn't installed | Install exactly what the screen names |
UnsupportedClassVersionError | Mod compiled with a newer Java than the game uses | Rebuild with the project's intended JDK, or use an official compiled release |
| Duplicate mod error | Two copies of the mod in mods | Keep only one file |
| Crash mid-fight, "out of memory" | Too little memory allocated | Raise -Xmx sensibly; see the performance guide |
Finding mod conflicts
If the mod works alone but crashes in a larger pack, use the halving method:
- Move half of your other mods out of the folder.
- Launch. If it works, the conflict is in the removed half; if not, it's in the remaining half.
- Keep halving the problem group until one mod remains.
Always test conflicts in a copy of your world.
Build errors from the source archive
- Java version errors: install the JDK the project expects and set
JAVA_HOME. - Network or dependency download failures: run the build again with a stable connection.
- Path problems: extract to a short path without spaces or special characters.
The download guide walks through the build from the start.
Asking for help
When you report a problem to the developer or a community, include your Minecraft version, Forge version, mod file name, the full crash report and a list of your other mods. Post long logs through a paste service rather than screenshots.
