Commands are the easiest way to test the Wither Storm without spending hours in survival, and to keep a test world under control. This guide sticks to what you can rely on: tab completion to discover the mod's own names, and standard Minecraft and Forge commands.

Commands require cheats to be enabled in a single-player world, or operator permission on a server.

Finding the mod's own IDs

Mod entities and items are registered under the mod's namespace, and the exact names can change between versions. Rather than copying IDs from old videos, let the game tell you:

  1. Open chat and type /summon with a trailing space.
  2. Press Tab to cycle suggestions, or start typing wither to filter them.
  3. Entries prefixed with the mod's namespace, rather than minecraft:, belong to the mod.

The same trick works with /give for items, and typing a single slash then pressing Tab lists every command available, including any the mod version you run adds.

Vanilla commands that help

CommandWhy it's useful
/gamemode spectatorWatch the storm grow without being pulled in or killed.
/gamemode creativeFly around the encounter and inspect damage.
/time set dayBetter visibility while testing.
/tp @s x y zMove quickly between the storm and a safe spot.
/gamerule mobGriefing falseVanilla rule that limits mob block damage. Test whether your mod version respects it before relying on it.
/kill @e[type=<id>]Remove the entity using the ID you found with tab completion.

A safe testing routine

  1. Copy your world folder, or create a fresh flat or normal test world.
  2. Enable cheats and switch to creative or spectator.
  3. Summon or trigger the encounter using the ID you discovered.
  4. Observe from a distance and note performance as it grows.
  5. Remove it with /kill when you are done, then restore the backup if needed.

Server monitoring

Forge servers provide /forge tps, which reports ticks per second for each dimension. Watching it during a fight shows whether the server keeps up. If TPS drops well below 20, see the performance guide.

Recovering a test world

Commands can remove the boss, but they can't rebuild eaten terrain. The dependable fix is the backup you made before testing, which is why step one of every routine here is a copy of the world.
